Eau Claire Orchards began in 1982 as a retirement project for Eau Claire
businessman H. Lee Minton. From its beginning in 1982 with 100 trees, the
operation grew to more than 20,000 trees on 100 acres. The orchard today
is at 12,000 trees on around 44 acres. In the early years the orchard was
mainly a wholesale operation selling millions of pounds of apples yearly to
wholesale distributors throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and
Iowa.
The orchard now sells 95% of its apples on site in inside the retail store. A classic 1950's
renovated dairy barn houses the farm market for Eau Claire Orchards which sells fresh
picked apples and other home grown Wisconsin treats such as gourmet jams and preserves,
honey, maple syrup, wild rice, dried flowers, and crafts. In addition to apples, Eau Claire
Orchards also grows pears, plums, sweet corn, pumpkins, Indian Corn, winter squash,
apricots, and coming in 2006 our first planting of strawberries! The retail store is open from
mid August through early November.
Weekend activities at the orchard are entertainment based activities which provide fun for the
whole family. Try our apple sling shot and send apples soaring in the air over 175 feet and
going about 50 MPH! Get a scare in the Old Haunted Barn, open on weekends in October.
Lots of photo opportunities with the pumpkin house and fun cutouts. Get lost in the amazing
corn maze, the small kids can have fun on our new for 2006 Apple Train. Just want to pick
some apples? No problem, pick from any apple we have available, and take a wagon ride out
into the orchard to pick your own apples. Pick your pumpkins available in October, also a
must see, the pumpkin trebuchet.
